A Breast Lift is a surgical procedure that changes the position of the breasts. Many patients choose to undergo a Breast Lift to improve nipple and breast position and appearance. Factors that affect breast appearance can be pregnancy, breastfeeding, and/or weight loss. During these events, weight changes, fluctuating hormones, and other contributing factors can cause the breasts to deflate and sag. A Breast Lift corrects these issues, making the breasts look younger and more aesthetically pleasing.
At our office, we specialize in Breast Lifts that look natural while adding noticeable lift. Breast Lifts can also be combined with Breast Augmentation for added volume.
What is a Breast Lift?
A Breast Lift is a cosmetic procedure during which Dr. Dillon can correct sagging and volume loss to make the breasts look more youthful. Incisions are made in cosmetically accepted areas to remove saggy skin and reposition the nipple. Dr. Dillon can use your body’s own fat to add volume, or use silicone or saline implants for more noticeable volume. During the consultation, we can discuss your implant options and help you select implants that are right for your body type and lifestyle.
Am I a Good Candidate?
Good candidates for Breast Lift procedures will be in excellent health and have reasonable expectations for the outcome of this surgery. Candidates will be non-smokers who do not take blood-thinning medications.
What Should I Expect From the Procedure?
During a Breast Lift procedure, Dr. Dillon will make incisions underneath the breast, around the areolas, and potentially in the armpit areas. These incisions scars will be barely noticeable after they’ve fully healed. These incisions allow Dr. Dillon to readjust the shape and positioning of the breasts, placing them in a higher position on the chest.
What’s the Recovery Like?
The total recovery period typically takes anywhere from four to six weeks. In the week after the procedure, patients are encouraged to sleep on recliners to prevent any chest pain. The chest area will be wrapped to help dissipate any swelling. Patients should expect swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the first two weeks after the procedure. In the weeks after, patients may need to wear a special bra to support their breasts while they heal.
Patients can return to work within one to two weeks, and resume normal physical activity after four to six weeks.
